Virginia Beach City Public Schools uses a proficiency scale to evaluate student work in grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
The scores are listed below and include explanations to help you better understand your child's work:
- AP: Advanced Proficient - Consistently demonstrates proficiency; grasps, applies, and extends key concepts,process and skills
- P: Proficient - Regularly grasps and applies key concepts, processes and skills with limited errors
- DP: Developing Proficiency - Beginning to grasp and apply key concepts, processes and skills
- N: Novice - Needs improvement; not making expected progress toward proficient
These scores are not equivalent to an A, B, C, or D.
